What Is A Billing Code?
Medical billing and code specialist provide physicians, insurance companies, and clinics with an important service. They are responsible for submitting the proper documents to insurance companies and federal agencies in order to receive reimbursement for their employer.
If you were to work in a small family practice or a suburban clinic your task may be a little simpler, since a lot of the work is assigned to the medical assistant or nurse. If you worked in a larger practice or clinic then you would have all of the responsibilities.
This career is a great choice for mother's that want to spend more time with their children, because you have the ability to work at home for a company. It's pretty great since you get the salary that you would get if you worked in an office. There are many online billing and coding companies that offer this service to physician's and insurance companies that need help.
In today's world it's important that there are two incomes coming in. The cost of living is higher than ever and this makes it harder for there to be stay at home mothers. This billing and coding career offer's you the ability to stay at home and still make an income. I myself have tried the many data entry at home jobs, it was really hard to do the amount of work that was needed just to make a couple hundred dollars a week. I felt as if I was on the computer typing day in and day out. It was so frustrating. And I just couldn't take it anymore, and that's when I discovered through a friend of my mother's that you can work from home doing medical billing and coding. So I stopped doing the data entry work and signed up for an online school. It was easy since I was able to work at my own pace. The first semester of the school I only took the required courses, but the next semester I took on a little more so that I could finish faster. After I completed my courses in only 6 months, I then took the national exam and got my certificate. I was really proud when I quickly got a phone call to work from home with a local physician. It's now been 4 years and I am still working from my home for the same doctor and I wouldn't change it for the world.
